Outdoor Television Production

Video and Television Production has come a long way in the past few years and new reality television show concepts are not only transforming network programming as we know it, but it is also effecting outdoor television and video production. With this added dimension to outdoor production, a medium that was reality based the moment it began, it will have the ability to entertain at a level that has not been seen before in this industry. Shows like Scent Lok's "Gettin' Close", "Realtree Roadtrips" and "Dream Season" are setting the precedent in the outdoor industry for new wave "reality style" productions.

It is vital for a production company to not only understand the future of the outdoor industry, but to also understand where it has been. It is also important that your editor understands the outdoor production style so you don't have to hold their hand during the editing process. Jack Pine Video Productions has extended experience in all areas of outdoor production. From script writing, sponsor packages, budget planning, videography, station requirements to voice overs, graphics, editing, audio and compositing, Jack Pine will serve as your complete post- production, pre-production and production facility.

Outdoor Video Production Experience

From the heart of Mid Michigan's farm country, he has been a lifelong fixture in the outdoors as a sportsman and as a videographer. Growing up in a small hunting and fishing community, the outdoors was not only a past time; it was a way of life. Jason learned about the pursuit of the whitetail deer, the eastern wild turkey, and waterfowl at a very early age. As a young teenager, Jason took interest in the art of outdoor videography with inspiration from the early pioneers of the hunting video industry such as Barry Wenzel, Will Primos, Ronnie "Cuz" Strickland, and Dan Fitzgerald.

A Graduate from Central Michigan University's Broadcasting and Cinematic Arts and Journalism programs in 2000, Jason left CMU with numerous accolades from award winning outdoor television show “Shallamie Outdoors” in which he directed, produced, edited and hosted for two years. As a student in the Broadcasting program, Jason built his base for skills in radio, audio production, video production, and broadcast marketing. After leaving CMU, Jason started Jack Pine Productions, a video production company based in Midland, Michigan that provides video and post-production services to businesses from A-Way Outdoors Television to General Motors to The St. Louis Blues

In 2001, Jason produced "A-way Outdoors Television", a hunting program which aired on The Outdoor Channel, making its debut the third and fourth quarters of 2001. As a producer, Jason played a vital part in shooting, editing, marketing and advertising. Jason has done freelance videography and editing for numerous companies in the outdoor industry. He has worked extensively with Ray Howell, one of the world's most respected and successful archery hunters, documenting his adventures throughout North America.

Jason has also shot and edited numerous whitetail, waterfowl and turkey productions and continues to play a role in outdoor television as an Elite Pro-staff Team member of A-Way Outdoors Television, a freelance contributor to Michigan-Out-of-Doors Television, a volunteer at The Tony Semple Foundation for Hope and an independent producer for numerous Outfitters across the country. In 2004 Jason started Rack Focus Video School, a class dedicated to teaching students new techniques and information that provide insight in the outdoor video and television industry. Two years ago, Jason took over the reigns of A-Way Outdoors TV once again, as an Editor and Producer, with a goal of putting the show among the Top Outdoor Series' in the industry today.

In the past year, Jack Pine Productions continued to forge new relationships in the Outdoor Industry as a key player in Production and Post-Production. Some of the projects include: Post-Production for "The American Outdoorsman" Television Series on The Sportsman Channel, Production and Post Production for "Heartland Bowhunter Television" airing currently on heartlandbowhunter.com and Post-Production for HB's "Arrows Unleashed" DVD Series, Production and Post-Production for "Hunters Prostaff " as well as their Predator and Big Game DVD Series'.

JPP has also teamed up with myoutdoorzone.com's Television Series "Own the Zone TV" where the Zone Team takes out members from the website on hunts across the US and Canada, which will air on the Sportsman Channel in the Fall of '08.  Recently, Jack Pine has  also teamed up  with the Avery Outdoor Enterprises produced program "Fishing 411 w/ Marc Romanack" and added it to the JPP Post-Production line-up as it's first all-fishing Program.  "Fishing 411" is slated to air on TSC starting in January of '08.

Jason's passion for the outdoors has definitely influenced the direction of Jack Pine Productions.  Over the next few months, beacuse of such growth in the Outdoor Production division of Jack Pine Productions, all Outdoor Post Production will become it's own entity under the name of "Rack Focus Post".  This will separate the Outdoor Production side of the company with everything else the company has to offer.
